General Contractor: Walsh Construction, The HNTB Companies Infrastructure Solutions

The Taxiway L project is the primary connector path for all departing commercial aircraft at Long Beach Airport (LGB) that has a project cost of approximately $25 million. The project will align the airport with current FAA standards and is primarily funded by Federal Aviation Administration. Long Beach Airport was founded in 1923, making it the oldest airport in California. RW Engineering provided the project team 3D Stringless Machine Control model alignments. The paving alignment length that RW provided to Walsh was approximately 27,500 linear feet. These models will be used for grading and paving operations of the project. RW Engineering specializes in 3D Machine Control models for grading and paving and provides support to the contractor for these operations. RW Engineering is proud to be involved with the excellent project team at Walsh Construction Company, and to be involved in such an important project to bring the facility up to date for the many charter, private, commercial, and flight school flights that take place daily.
